Assessing culture at a fast growing care home supplier

Introducing CareHomeLife

CareHomeLife is a fast-growing organisation providing products, services, and support to care homes across the UK.

With a mission to help their customers honour the dignity of residents, in 2024  the business has seen rapid growth of 30%. This rapid growth has meant that over the past 12 months, the team expanded by over 25%, with a new senior leadership team in place, increasing from 3 to 6 members.

With even more ambitious growth targets the SLT at CareHomeLife knew that a strong culture and a happy staff would help achieve their business goals.

Having run manual, time consuming, temperature checks in the past the CareHomeLife team were keen to engage in a culture assessment that gave them truly anonymous feedback that helped them support their teams throughout sustained periods of growth.

Cultural context

Rapid growth brought new energy to CareHomeLife, but also new challenges. With ambitious targets and a desire to scale while maintaining a strong sense of purpose, CareHomeLife recognised the need to protect and strengthen their culture. Communication, collaboration, and a sense of support within the organisation were key priorities.

The leadership team had already introduced DISC profiling to support effective communication, but they wanted a more comprehensive view of the culture as the business evolved. It was important to understand how people were feeling, how well teams were working together, and whether any friction or barriers might exist as they scaled.

How our assessment helped

CareHomeLife turned to Cultiv8tiv to run a full culture assessment. They wanted to move beyond assumptions and make decisions based on facts and data that were difficult to analyse effectively and objectively.

The Cultiv8tiv platform offered a much more efficient and insightful approach for the business. It was easy to set up, and the team found the resulting reports clear and actionable.

A particular highlight was the volume and quality of comments and guidance included in the report, as well as the fact that they were all organised in one place, summarised and fully anonymised. The summaries were extremely valuable and saved several days of manual effort.

The anonymity of our platform ensured that CareHomeLife received completely honest feedback, providing a level of transparency that had been hard to achieve through internal methods (where employees might have been mindful of being identified through their comments).

Actions and next steps

The assessment gave CareHomeLife clarity on where to focus their efforts to support the team and sustain their growth. It helped validate some of their existing assumptions while highlighting new areas they hadn’t fully considered.

With a clearer understanding of how the team was feeling and what was helping or hindering collaboration, they’ve been able to put targeted actions in place to maintain a strong, productive culture during their next phase of growth.

Cheryl Jones, Head of Brand and Marketing at CareHomeLife, said:

“We know how important culture is to achieving our growth goals, we want to hire – and keep – the best people and we know this won’t happen without a strong culture. We’ve got ambitious growth targets and we value the people in our business and want to keep them happy. We also know that they are key to making our business grow faster and we needed to understand any potential barriers or problems.”

“We’d done manual, offline check-ins before, but they took a lot of time and effort to give us any real level of insight or analysis including days for the write up. The Cultiv8tiv assessment on the other hand was easy to set up and gave us so much rich feedback. We wouldn’t have been able to gather this much honest input any other way.”

“Using the insight and data from our Cultiv8tiv assessment, we’re confident we can implement the right processes and support functions to help our business grow and hit our ambitious targets.”
